Where have all the “good” lyrics gone?

Just wondering like the Jack Johnson song says, “Where’d all the good people go?” – where have all the “good” lyrics gone? Many of today’s mainstream artists might have one decent song, and then several others containing offensive and foul language.  So, is it okay to choose to listen to these artists who produce both the “good” and the “bad” lyrics?  Personally, this is a dilemma for me, especially as a dance teacher who frequently considers using new music, but, more times than not, I decide against it after doing some research on the artist.  Sadly, this was not the standard scenario even less than a decade ago.  In other words, even if the artists you were listening to did not hold the same beliefs, at least they weren’t creating music with such blatantly compromising or offensive lyrics.  If you think this does not apply to the artists you are listening to, I strongly recommend you check out the lyrics online for yourself.  You may be shocked at what you discover.  If a song is rated “explicit” in this low standard and de-sensitized culture, it truly is!  Of course, we live in a culture where what is considered “good” to some is not so good to others. Somehow I think Jesus’ version of “good” might not align with the mainstream of our culture.
