Welcome!
Writing, like prayer, worship, and creating choreography, is a release of what is deep within my spirit. When I’m engaged in these activities, I forget time exists. Hopefully, I’m preparing for my eternal assignment.
“Unqualified but called” – immediately when I heard this quote I said to myself, “Yes, that fits.” God qualifies those He calls. God has called us all out of darkness into His marvelous light for the purpose of declaring His praise and displaying His glory in our lives. The older I get, the more I say “yes” and “amen” to John 15:5 where Jesus said, “…apart from me, you can do nothing.” My journey has kept me continually in need of MORE of God’s grace and His Spirit in my life.
I have been involved in the ministries of prayer/intercession and worship dance for 30 years. I am blessed with the privilege and joy of teaching dance at a Christ centered, non-profit studio, whose mission is to teach, love, mentor, and inspire every child in their uniqueness, and to glorify God in all the arts. I love studying and teaching The Word, helping other’s experience God’s presence through worship, prayer, and His Word. Since the best teachers remain lifetime students, in 2021, I obtained a Certificate of Ministry through Highlands College. I enjoy writing and speaking too. I also love spending time with family and friends, traveling to beaches, mountains, and places that unveil God’s majestic creation, great dining experiences, exercising, laughing, shopping (what girl doesn’t?), movies that force me to burst out in laughter and tug at my heart strings until my tears uncontrollably flood my eyegates, reading inspirational books and a few classics, cheering for the Crimson Tide, spending time in my beautiful flower garden, listening to all genres of good music and frequently dancing around my house to most of it. Even so, I don’t always get to do all these wonderful things I love as often as I desire. You know – life just interrupts sometimes. Heaven will allow time for all of this and more …more than all we can imagine…All that is so much more wonderful! I am certain of it!
Joyful Jenny and her handsome hubby, David, have been married 39 years. We have 2 adult children, a son-in-love, and the joyful gift of our first grandson born in 2021.
Since 2004, we have been members of Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama, except for a brief season from 2008 to 2010 while living in Dothan, Alabama, where we served at Harvest Church. At Highlands, we have served the “Dream Team” together and separately in the areas of prayer, production, coaching, outreach and leading small groups. Our lives are so perfect and so are we – well, of course not! But, God’s grace is sufficient. We are so thankful our Father’s amazing grace has kept us and is still guiding us. We trust He is working all the good and the not so good together for His glory.
My heart’s desire is just to obey my Father, and to share what He is teaching me and speaking to me. Along my own journey, a lot of redemption, repentance, reflection and restoration have led to even more reading, ruminating, resting, and releasing, and yes, more JOY and laughter too! In spite of the struggles and disappointments of life, I am learning to shift my perspective, check my attitude, grow in gratitude, and let love and laughter flow through. Laughter is good like medicine. The joy of the Lord is our strength. No wonder we all face a battle to keep our joy no matter what life brings our way.
JESUS HAS COME FOR THE PURPOSE OF GIVING US LIFE AND LIFE ABUNDANTLY. He who has the Son of God has life! The Words He gives us are full of His Spirit and they are life giving. I pray you receive His words of truth and life and experience life in Christ today!
Always remember – You are LOVED, you are SPECIAL, you are CHOSEN, and you are CALLED!
Grace, peace & JOY for today!

“Joyful Jenny” is the new name I claim. Yes, my Father has brought a restoration of joy to me personally, I am full of JOY NO MATTER WHAT!
But you are God’s chosen and special people. You are a group of royal priests and a holy nation. God has brought you out of darkness into His marvelous light. Now you must tell all the wonderful things that He has done… 1 Peter 2:9 CEV

After reading this, I hope you don’t think my Christian journey has just been sort of like a floating on a cloud experience. NO! Show me where those people are? Life is challenging for all of us, and often NOT what we expected it to be like – in ways that are good and not so good. Amidst every heartbreak and all the unexpected paths, God has greatly blessed me and my family. Great is His faithfulness!
Again, I am definitely a novice at this writing thing, so thanks for giving me grace. I remind my dance students, “Practice makes progress.” So I am practicing and praying I am making progress.
I began many years ago journaling my prayers, as well as writing devotional thoughts. Sometimes, when I look back at these, I encourage my own self by reading them. Perhaps you relate. I have felt compelled to write and study God’s Word more intently in recent years. I was saved at the age of 11, but only began growing as a Christian in 1983. These blog postings are the expression of an overflowing heart birthed out of an amazing grace-filled journey of drawing closer to God through the love and study of His Word and spending time with Him.
My prayer is that the thoughts shared on this blog might be used to bless, encourage, inspire, teach, challenge, and just cause you to think!
I love the Lord and I love His Word. I love studying His Word. I love praying and talking to Him and spending time with Him. I have never gotten over being saved and don’t ever plan to. I love worshiping God period. I also love worshiping God through music and dance and seeing the love and worship of God visually reflected in the arts. I love people and I desire to see others know and experience the amazing grace and love of the Father that saves, heals, fulfills and restores, and brings purpose, peace, joy and freedom only found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. I love life and the life that I have found through my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ.
For those of you who are artists and are interested in inspirational and challenging encouragement to use your art form to the glory of God, please check out my other blog at http://www.restorationarts.blogspot.com (this was the first blog I created in 2010), connected to the ministry of Restoration Arts and Restoration Arts Dance / RAD – Radical praise & worship thru dance! For God loved the world so much that he gave His only Son, so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
