Writing, like prayer, worship, and creating choreography, is a release of what is deep within my spirit. When I’m engaged in these activities, I forget time exists. Hopefully, I’m preparing for my eternal assignment.
I am unqualified but called. When I heard this phrase quoted by Pastor Steven Furtick, immediately I said to myself, “Yes, that fits.” God qualifies those He calls. God has called us all out of darkness into His marvelous light for the purpose of declaring His praise and displaying His glory in our lives. The older I get, the more I say “yes” and “amen” to John 15:5 where Jesus said, “…apart from me, you can do nothing.” My journey has kept me continually in need of MORE of God’s grace and His Spirit in my life.
I have been involved in the ministries of prayer/intercession and worship dance for over 20 years. I am blessed with the privilege and joy of teaching dance at a Christ centered, non-profit studio, whose mission is to teach, love, mentor, and inspire every child in their uniqueness, and to glorify God in all the arts. I love studying and teaching The Word, helping other’s experience God’s presence through worship, prayer, and His Word. I enjoy writing and speaking too. I also love spending time with family and friends, traveling to beaches, mountains, and places that unveil God’s majestic creation, great dining experiences, exercising, laughing, shopping (what girl doesn’t?), movies that force me to burst out in laughter and tug at my heart strings until my tears uncontrollably flood my eyegates, reading inspirational books and a few classics, cheering for the Crimson Tide, spending time in my beautiful flower garden, listening to all genres of good music and frequently dancing around my house to most of it. Even so, I don’t always get to do all these wonderful things I love as often as I desire. You know – life just interrupts sometimes. Heaven will allow time for all of this and more …more than ALL we can imagine…ALL that is SO MUCH MORE WONDERFUL! I am certain of it!
My husband, David, of 35 years, is one of my greatest blessings in life. He can do anything – well, just about anything – really! My other greatest blessings are my adult children, Jordan and Kristen and son-in-love, John – another ginger like myself and my own earthly father named John too! We have been members of Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, Alabama since 2004, and serve on the “Dream Team” through prayer, production, and leading small groups.
JESUS HAS COME FOR THE PURPOSE OF GIVING US LIFE AND LIFE ABUNDANTLY. He who has the Son of God has life! The Words He gives us are full of His Spirit and they are life giving. I pray you receive His words of truth and life and experience life in Christ today! (John 10:10; 1 John 5:12; John 6:63)
Always remember – You are LOVED, you are SPECIAL, you are CHOSEN, and you are CALLED!
Grace, peace & JOY for today!

This blog is a work in progress from a writer in training for sure. I have actually written numerous “Ponder It” thoughts I am considering sharing on this blog, as I am able to find the time to transfer them from my “Evernote” notebook (and then many more new thoughts and ideas keep filling my mind). So, please check back if you like what you’ve read so far? Lord willing, I also hope to publish some of these in a book soon. Or someday, I would just love to publish a book! I’ve been saying this forever now. Perhaps I am just intrigued with the idea more than the SLOW process and dedicated focus and time commitment required to complete a book – especially for someone like me who is all over the place at times. Something’s gotta give. T-I-M-E and discipline – yes, lots of both are needed to write and complete quality writing assignments. This I am quickly learning. I spent a year going through the five levels of Compel Training and taking several other online writing courses with a desire to get better at this writing thing. We don’t get better at anything we aren’t doing, so this blog is my practicing place. Often I have grandiose ideas, plans, goals, dreams, and visions and then reality sets in. Help, Lord. Not my will, but Yours be done. Yes, that brings rest and peace. All in God’s timing.
Again, I am definitely a novice at this writing thing, so thanks for giving me grace. I have actually journaled my prayers for years. Some of these journals contain numerous devotional ideas and notes as well. It’s only been recently, that the Lord has lead me to pursue writing in a more disciplined, consistent, and organized format (I use the word “organized” loosely – not one of my strengths – but with God – all things are possible – yes! Matthew 19:26). My heart’s desire is just to obey my Father, and to share what He is speaking to me and has taught me over the past 35 years (I was saved at the age of 11, but only began growing as a Christian in 1983). These blog postings are the expression of an overflowing heart birthed out of an amazing grace-filled journey of drawing closer to God through the love and study of His Word and spending time with Him. Some posts are purposefully very brief and others are definitely not. After reading this, I hope you don’t think my Christian journey has just been sort of like a floating on a cloud experience. NO! Show me where those people are? LIFE is CHALLENGING for all of us, and often NOT what we expected it to be like – in ways that are good and not so good. Amidst every heartbreak and all the unexpected paths, GOD has GREATLY BLESSED ME and MY FAMILY. GREAT IS HIS FAITHFULNESS!
My prayer is that the thoughts shared on this blog might be used to bless, encourage, inspire, teach, challenge, and just cause you to think!
I love the Lord and I love His Word. I love studying His Word. I love praying and talking to Him and spending time with Him. I have never gotten over being saved and don’t ever plan to. I love worshiping God period. I also love worshiping God through music and dance and seeing the love and worship of God visually reflected in the arts. I love people and I desire to see others know and experience the amazing grace and love of the Father that saves, heals, fulfills and restores, and brings purpose, peace, joy and freedom only found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. I love life and the life that I have found through my Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. I am also learning to laugh more through the struggles and disappointments of life too.

(Psalm 149:3)
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)
But you are not like that, for you have been chosen by God himself—you are priests of the King, you are holy and pure, you are God’s very own—all this so that you may show to others how God called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. (1 Peter 2:9)
