Too Strange?

Don’t ever write people or a valid ministry off just because they’re different from you or seem a little too strange or perhaps not “your type”. (Valid meaning Biblically based upon the truth from God’s Word and following and adhering to the Biblically based teachings of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord). Think about how strange John the Baptist was, and, yet, he was chosen to baptize Jesus.

Many of us today immediately avoid anyone whose exterior dress or particular fashion style or even method of ministry doesn’t match what we feel is okay, best, “normal,” or “mainstream,” and only choose to associate with those who are similar to us in dress, lifestyle, personality, and beliefs. Some of us may be hindering God’s desire to divinely connect us with some new friends and mentors, or even speak to us through a particular person, simply because we are unable to move beyond the exterior packaging.  Especially if it is someone whom God is using greatly in a ministry capacity, we should never discount that person immediately because of their outward appearance or even the particular denomination they belong to (again, this does not include listening to heresy or false teachers – defined as those who do not believe in the Trinity and that Jesus Christ is the only way to Heaven – John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
Sometimes what may even look foolish to us, God is using and may desire to use personally to teach, encourage, or sharpen us.
God uses people – all kinds of people.
But God has chosen what the world calls foolish to shame the wise…1 Corinthians 1:27
A man looks at the outside of a person, but the Lord looks at the heart.  1 Samuel 16:7
As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.  Proverbs 27:17
