Our Father God is calling His overcoming ones higher in these days. Psalm 24:3 asks the question, “Who shall go up into the mountain of the Lord?” Then Psalm 24:4 answers the question: “He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted himself up to falsehood or what is false, nor sworn deceitfully.” Or, as the New Living Translation states, “Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies.”
In Matthew 5:8, Jesus told us that the “pure in heart” will see God. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us that we must guard our heart above all else, for it determines the course of our life. Pure hearts see God in His high and holy place as we worship in spirit and in truth. Jesus told the Samaritan woman at the well that the Father is seeking these kind of worshipers. True worshipers worship God in spirit – God’s higher presence of the Holy Spirit inhabits true worship. True worshipers worship in truth, in surrender to Jesus, who stated, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life.” Truly surrendered worshipers are then enlightened to see life through the Father’s eyes revealed through His Word. Purity of heart leads to power in the Holy Spirit that overflows as a spring of life to every part of our lives.
In this time of great deception and darkness covering many, we are to be the ones who keep our hearts pure and our minds set on things above (Colossians 3:1-2). Colossians 3:2 in the Amplified Bible further clarifies what is above as “the higher things.”
Our relationship with God first begins from a place of heart surrender. Our relationship with God grows stronger through His Word, through worship and prayer, and through our faithful obedience. Loving God with our whole hearts has always been what God desires from us first above everything else.
An idol is any person, pleasure or thing in our lives we place above our love and worship of God. If the enemy is unsuccessful at distracting us from seeking, soaking and surrendering in the presence of the Lord, he will then attempt to sabotage us through busyness over fruitfulness in our serving. The enemy desires to burn us out, even through weariness in prayer or in our obedient service for the Lord. The enemy’s goal is for our hearts to disconnect and our fiery love for God to dissipate. God’s desire is for our hearts to remain in close communion with His Spirit, set on fire to rise higher to fulfill our Kingdom assignments to the glory of His great name.
A loving relationship formed and maintained by time spent with God will keep our hearts set ablaze with a desire to serve the One we love and intimately know with joyful passion out of overflow.
We must continually be filled with the Holy Spirit to overflow. Being still, sitting at the Father’s feet, waiting in His presence, and receiving the washing of the water of His Word and His Spirit, will lead us along the pathway to ascending higher.
We live in a world of busyness and constant distractions, especially with our iPhones, social media, and so much more. We must choose to take time to come away and spend time with our Good Shepherd and Savior King, and the lover of our souls.
We desperately need the power of the Holy Spirit and the purity of our Father’s heart overflowing through us for such a time as this.
Praying for us all to have a fresh baptism of love and fire that not only calls us higher, but empowers us to thrive as we see clearly from God’s higher perspective. As we see clearly, hear with clarity, may we pray boldly in faith to see many saved, delivered and healed and fulfilling God’s will in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Your sister in Christ,
Joyful Jenny
“The foundation of effective prayer that brings divine fire is the passion to pursue relationship.”
