Let Freedom Reign!

IMG_2097

Let us declare our independence from fear of man, bondage to self and the strongholds of addiction, materialism, and sin, and celebrate our dependence on the FATHER OF LIBERTY.
The heart of God is freedom.  Freedom to be the son or daughter of God you were created in His image to be.   The AUTHOR OF ALL TRUE FREEDOM AND LIBERTY, our ALMIGHTY CREATOR, God, not only calls us to a place of freedom, but paid the price for us to live in freedom through Jesus’ laying down His life for us on the cross.  This is AMAZING GRACE THAT LEADS TO AMAZING FREEDOM AND LIFE!  When you live and walk in this place of freedom, you are free to love and honor God and to love and serve others.

“It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)

“So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free.” (Jesus, John 8:36)

Many in our nation sing songs of freedom, but are far removed from truly experiencing it.
They brag about themselves with empty, foolish boasting. With an appeal to twisted sexual desires, they lure back into sin those who have barely escaped from a lifestyle of deception. They promise freedom, but they themselves are slaves of sin and corruption. For you are a slave to whatever controls you.  (2 Peter 2:18-19)
“For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.”  (2 Corinthians 3:17)

It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows.  Galatians 5:13 (The Message)

Let freedom reign!
Part of the American revolution was birthed for the purpose of obtaining freedom “of” religion, not freedom “from” religion.  The spirit of this longing that so propelled the pilgrims was the desire to worship God freely.  Our Heavenly Father desires relationship with us over religion and rituals.  Surrendering completely to the One who made us and designed us to worship, brings ultimate freedom, joy and life everlasting.  It’s the ironic kingdom principle that spiritual freedom begins with surrender.  When we freely choose not to  worship our Creator, inevitably we begin worshiping other people or things, and this ultimately leads us to a place where many other things reign in our lives.  For many, this leads to a place where bondage reigns and rules, and not a spirit of freedom.
Let His freedom reign in your heart and life today!

God’s love and grace are freely given to us, but freedom is never free.  Jesus’ himself took the stripes of freedom for us on the cross.  Even while we were still sinning and not even seeking to know Him, Christ demonstrated His great love for us.  It is for freedom that Christ died to set us free and by His stripes we are healed.  Christ paid the price for our freedom, just as thousands of American soldiers have paid the price for us to live freely in America.   Our freedom has been paid for with precious blood, but still we must defend it.  Just as our military men and women answer the call to serve our country and to fight for the preservation of our freedom from those who would seek to destroy America, we too must answer the call to serve the Lord and battle the enemy of our souls.  Our enemy’s greatest weapon is deception.  He whispers lies to us about God, about who we are, about life, and about everything.  He is the father of lies, and his ultimate goal is destruction.  He’s out to destroy our  joy, our peace, our freedom, and our lives.  He works to separate us from our Heavenly Father and the call of God on our lives. Our military soldiers train and are prepared to use their battle weapons, and so, we too must be prepared to fight the fight of faith with The Truth.  We must silence the voices and the calls of culture that promise pleasure and freedom, but lead to bondage and death.  We must know who we are in Christ, as sons and daughters of The Most High God.  We must know our Father loves us, He chooses us, and He hears our heart’s cry when we are battle weary, worn and broken.  He will never leave us and He is always with us.  He desires to comfort and heal our broken hearts, to redeem and restore us.  He is always there calling us to life abundantly and eternally, and to a life with purpose.  Just as our soldiers’ uniforms display their military stripes of service for our country’s freedom, let us live our lives boldly honoring the stripes our Savior took to redeem and clothe us as His righteous sons and daughters.*
Let us thank all our military men and women whom have so honorably and courageously served and sacrificed for our nation’s freedom, and let us thank our Father God who sent His only Son to pay the price for each of us to live a life of true freedom in the land of the free and the home of the brave and for all eternity.

America’s history is rooted in patriotic songs of freedom that are rich with inspirational and faith filled lyrics.  A few of these patriotic ballads are listed below.
A Poem & A Song:
“America The Beautiful”
by Katherine Lee Bates (Composer, Samuel A. Ward)
Oh beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassioned stress
a thoroughfare of freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control,
Thy liberty in law!
O beautiful for heroes proved
In liberating strife.
Who more than self their country loved
And mercy more than life!
America! America!
May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness
And every gain divine!
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for halcyon skies,
For amber waves of grain
For purple mountain majesties
Above the enameled plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
Till souls wax fair as earth and air
And music-hearted sea!
O beautiful for pilgrims’ feet,
Whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
Till paths be wrought through
wilds of thought
By pilgrim foot and knee!
O beautiful for glory-tale!
Of liberating strife
When once and twice,
For man’s avail
Men lavished precious life!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
Till selfish gain no longer stain
The banner of the free!
O beautiful for patriot dream
That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam
Undimmed by human tears!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee
Till nobler men keep once again
Thy whiter jubilee!
Quote from Author, Katherine Lee Bates, who wrote “America, The Beautiful” while visiting Pikes Peak in Colorado in 1893:
“It was then and there, as I was looking out over the sea-like expanse of fertile country spreading away so far under those ample skies, that the opening lines of the hymn floated into my mind,”.  The poem was later put to music by composer, Samuel A. Ward, a church organist.

A Song & A Prayer:
“God Bless America”
By Irving Berlin

While the storm clouds gather far across the sea,
Let us swear allegiance to a land that’s free.
Let us all be grateful for a land so fair,
As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer:

God bless America, land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Through the night with a light from above.
From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home sweet home.

“America”

by Samuel Francis Smith

My country, ’tis of thee,
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From ev’ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
Land of the noble free,
Thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
Thy woods and templed hills;
My heart with rapture thrills,
Like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
And ring from all the trees
Sweet freedom’s song;
Let mortal tongues awake;
Let all that breathe partake;
Let rocks their silence break,
The sound prolong.
Our fathers’ God to Thee,
Author of liberty,
To Thee we sing.
Long may our land be bright,
With freedom’s holy light,
Protect us by Thy might,
Great God our King.
Portions of the lyrics to “Let Freedom Reign”

Let freedom reign
Shine the light of day
And guide us on our way
Let freedom reign
Drive the clouds away
And let the sun shine through
The red, white and blue

Let freedom reign
Let freedom reign
And let the sun shine through
The red, white and blue
